George Sampson tells STV about Streetdance 2 challenge

Starring in the sequel to the hugely popular Streetdance, which is released this week, star George Sampson has talked about how he was pushed by having more of an acting role this time around.

George shot to fame when he won the second series of Britain's Got Talent in 2008 at just 14.

In the latest Streetdance movie, after suffering humiliation by the crew Invincible, street dancer Ash (Falk Hentschel) looks to gather the best dancers from around the world for a rematch.

George told us of the new movie: “The producer and the director said you’re going to be considered more of an actor, we’re going to give you less dance.

“Then, things all changed. We went to Paris before we started shooting to audition all these dancers for the main crew.

“They ran a six-hour workshop with the American choreographers and they flew me over and threw me in.

“I did the dances, it all worked and they said ‘Right, you’ll do the dancing as well, you’ll get training. Get yourself up there, get yourself better and get in with them.

“So it tested me for dancing and acting, it was tough.”
