The British Soap Awards took place on Saturday 9th May, as Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks stars donned their glad-rags for one of the award calendar’s most glamorous occasions. You can watch our interview with some of the Coronation Street stars on the red carpet in the player above.

Hosted by Phillip Schofield with awards being presented by some of the entertainment worlds most famous faces, there was everything to play for in the soap world’s ‘Oscars’.

Coronation Street won six awards including sexiest female for Michelle Keegan and Best exit for Rob James-Collier whilst Eastenders pipped them at the post with seven, including holding on to their title of Best British Soap.

Whilst it was a great year for BBC’s afternoon drama Doctors who picked up three awards, it wasn’t such a happy occasion for Emmerdale who only received one award and teen favourite Hollyoaks, who came away empty handed.
