The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince Harry, had the pleasure of attending numerous events throughout London 2012, in their roles as Official Ambassadors of the Olympic Games.
And as much as the Royal trio adored watching the incredible Games unfold, their presence also brought a great deal of joy to many of the athletes taking part.
The latest medal winner to speak out about meeting the Duchess is U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas, who won gold medals in both the individual and team all-around competitions.
She may have been one of the golden girls of the Games, but chatting with Kate Middleton was an added bonus for the gorgeous star.
During an interview with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show, Gabby explained that meeting Kate was “definitely an exciting experience.”
She said: "My teammate [Ali Raisman] told her, 'I like your fashion,' and she said, "I like your leos.'"
Kate in a leotard – now that we would love to see!
Kate also delighted rowing gold medallists Andy Triggs Hodge, Kat Copeland and Sophie Hosking, when she visited them with her brother-in-law Prince Harry.
Kat told the Mirror: "I've wanted to meet her, all through the Games I've seen her at other sports and I keep missing her. She's gorgeous in real life.
"They were both really nice. Kate had obviously watched all of our races, which was pretty amazing.”
And swimmer Rebecca Adlington was particularly mesmerised by Kate’s style queen credentials, and couldn’t stop staring at her elegant blue wedges!
The cork navy blue wedges cost £245 from high street shop Russell & Bromley and after meeting Kate when she visited the British Olympic team's official residence, Rebecca told the Daily Mail: “I just love her shoes. They're much nicer than the sports gear we're wearing this week.” Don’t tell Stella McCartney that!
Kate, Wills and Harry let their hair down and got as caught up in Olympic fever as the rest of the world, with Kate and Harry looking particularly proud at the poignant closing ceremony on Sunday night.
As Kate shone in her favourite blue Whistles dress, which she also wore to the Diamond Jubilee concert earlier this year, she was spotted singing along to the host of British talent that performed, particularly enjoying Take That’s rendition of Rule the World, as they are her favourite band.
With the Games now over, we’re sure the young Royals are suffering from ‘Olympics withdrawal symptoms’, but we can all look forward to the London 2012 Paralympics, which kick off on August 29.
