The Saturdays injected a bit of glamour to an otherwise ordinary Tuesday afternoon in Glasgow, when the stunning girl group appeared in the city to meet and greet fans.
The five-piece - Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Wiseman – were at the Buchanan Street branch of HMV to sign copies of their new single 30 Days today (May 15), and said they were delighted to be back in the Scottish city where they feel so at home.
“We love it here,” they told stv.tv's Gill Harvey. New mum Una, who gave birth to daughter Aoife Bell in March, added: “I think it’s the further you go north from London the louder the crowds get. It’s really amazing up here, there are always amazing crowds in Glasgow.”
Mollie continued: “We started one of our tours up here actually because of that reason, the crowds are amazing, they know the lyrics to all our songs.”
The busy band were in Glasgow briefly today before jetting away for another work commitment, but will return this Sunday for the In:Demand gig at the city’s SECC.
This year’s stellar line-up includes the likes of Tulisa, Professor Green, Cover Drive and Conor Maynard, and The Saturdays said they can’t wait to return to the festival.
Rochelle, who is engaged to JLS singer Marvin Humes, said: “We’ve done it a few times now, we just always have such a good time, you can’t get rid of us, we’re back again!”
Mollie added: “It’s fun because we get to perform and then we get to watch to watch a concert so it’s good.”
This Sunday the girls won’t just be performing at In:Demand though – they’ll also be nervously waiting to see if new single 30 Days has achieved the elusive number one spot in the UK charts – a landmark they’ve still to achieve in their hugely successful career.
Explaining a bit about their latest pop-tastic offering, Una said: “It’s a song about missing your other half and counting down the days, like it’s 30 days until you see them again, ‘I can’t wait and I’m a bit lonely without you’. It’s quite a sad song, it’s a love song really, but it’s got an upbeat vibe too so it’s a good one for a Saturday night!”
30 Days was released yesterday (May 14). Find out more about The Saturdays from their official website www.thesaturdays.co.uk.
